I know, I know, it’s usually Sunday Funday, but it is so nice outside, I think Monday should get to be included ;). I also know that I missed posting yesterday, but I have good reason, I promise! My husband took me out for dinner! Today is my actual anniversary, but since he is working, we had a wonderful dinner on the patio last night. I can’t believe it has been a year already (8 total ;)). Today we were reminiscing about how stressed out I was last year at this very moment, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world and would do it 10 tens over. I can’t imagine a day without him, he supports every dream of mine and loves me unconditionally!
Alright, enough sappy stuff ;). I will be posting two smoothie recipes today in lieu of me missing yesterday! The first one is brought to you by another one of my wonderful Aunts! She has also begun her clean eating journey, and is looking and feeling amazing. Here is her delicious breakfast smoothie.
1/2c. unsweetened orange juice ( or any liquid you like)
1/4c. ground flax
1/4c. Chia Seeds
1/2 c. greek yogurt
2 c. spinach
1 1/2c mixed berries(fresh or frozen)
Blend together, and then mix 2 scoops protein powder with 1/2c almond milk pour into blender. Makes at least 5c.
The second one is a concoction I made yesterday. I thought my peach and mango smoothie was good, this was even better!
The Bango (That’s a cross between a banana and mango ;))
1/3 frozen banana
1/4 – 1/2 cup frozen mango
1/2 cup almond milk
1/2 cup coconut water
1-2 cups spinach
1 scoop vanilla whey protein (can use 1/2 cup Greek yogurt instead)
Blend all ingredients until smooth.
This smoothie was to die for!
*Tip – instead of buying prepackaged frozen bananas, buy 1-2 bundles, peel them, break the banana in 1/3 pieces and put them in a Ziploc bag!
Sooo, I have been talking about doing a new progress picture for a while and what better time than the present! Posting these sort of pictures is still terrifying to me, but I can’t live my life in fear, so I am once again stepping out of my box and sharing them. We have to do things that scare us, put us out of our comfort zone and down right terrify us! Something as simple as sharing these pictures do all 3 to me! So many thoughts run through my head as I am about to post this, but once I hit publish it is all out of my control and that’s what is so scary. I like to control things in my life, and sometimes I have to let go of that and it can be so freeing! There are times when taking is control is absolutely needed, but then there are times when you need to throw caution to the wind and just live! The pictures below are more than just pictures. They are symbols of the hard work and dedication I have poured into making my life as healthy and happy as I can. My journey is no where over, nor will it ever be, but I want to enjoy it every step of the way. There are things I still continue to struggle with regarding body image, but the longer I live this lifestyle the more I begin to accept myself for who I am, and not always for who I want to be.
There is no time better than the present to take charge of your life and start living for YOU. Trust me, I used to use sour cream like it was my job, added cheese to everything and enjoyed (often) at least one piece of garlic toast. Did all these things taste good? Absolutely! But once I slowly started cutting processed food out of my life and adding in natural foods, I really started enjoying the real taste of food without adding condiments. There is no need to throw everything out at once, as it can make the process daunting. Take one or two foods at a time, and give yourself two weeks without eating them. By the end of those two weeks, you most likely to be able to break the habit of reaching for or using these foods. Replace these foods with new, more natural foods (more fruits and vegetables).
What also makes eating clean easy for me, is my day usually consists of the same foods daily. You don’t have to make a different breakfast, snack, lunch or supper everyday. Use leftovers for lunches and suppers. Use Sunday, or whatever day you have available weekly, as your “prep-day”. Prepare whatever you need for the week ahead of time and freeze your meals. If you make time, you will always have time. Schedule your prep day and workout into your life. This will help to ensure you stay on track.
