Gratitude

Good Morning Everyone

I know my posts are usually about exercise or food, but today I wanted to change it up, because of the way my day started. My husband complimented me this morning and told me that “I was looking really fit and toned”. That compliment meant a lot, especially because I value his opinion, and he used the words “fit and toned”! Those words had an impact on me, since that is the goal I am trying to achieve over being skinny. It is amazing how a few simple words can change how you feel about yourself (especially if you’re having a “fat day”), and can also change your outlook on the rest of the day.

More than ever, we are so busy in our lives, and don’t seem to take notice of our surroundings and the people we come into contact with everyday. So the next time you think “I love her outfit” or if you see someone at the gym and think “they look amazing”, tell them! Just a few kind words can make someone feel special, and can also make you feel good about yourself. Sharing kind words can have an impact on someones day or even their life, because you never know what they are going through. So make a promise to yourself to give at least one compliment to either someone you know or a total stranger every single day. You never know the impact you may have!

Now this may sound a bit cheesy, but in actuality it helps me put my life in perspective. I get emails bi-weekly from the Secret Scrolls (The Secret is a book about positive thinking), and some days they come just in time. I want to share one I got the other day.

“Write down all the great things about everyone you know. Make a huge list of all the wonderful things about you. Compliment people wherever you go. Praise every single thing you see. Be a ray of sunshine to everyone you meet, and make their day better for having seen you. Say “Thank you” at every turn. Walk, talk, think, and breathe appreciation and gratitude.”   -Taken from the Secret Scrolls

Now I haven’t written down great things about everyone I know, but I sure sat and thought about it for a while. No matter who you know, there is something great about every single person. I find my life takes a more positive route when I myself am thinking positive. It has tought me to be grateful for things in life we sometimes take for granted. Things like being able to walk, run, see, breathe, smell, taste, go to school, have a job, have a vehicle to drive to work, a roof over our head, clothing and so many more things others have to live without, but even they seem to be grateful for the things in their lives. So instead of thinking about the things we don’t or can’t have, think about the things you do have and how to achieve the things you want. We all know if isn’t always perfect and can be difficult to deal with at times, but if we stop to think about what we have and ways to solve our problems, we can make our lives more positive.

Make everyday a great one, and remember to share your happiness with others!
